Who Staffing is looking for a Practice Director - Commercial Lines Insurance for a fulltime, direct hire opportunity with our client in Baltimore, MD.
Job Summary:
The Practice Director of Commercial Lines Insurance provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for the agency’s commercial insurance division. This executive-level role is responsible for profitability, growth, operational efficiency, talent development, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across all commercial lines accounts. The Practice Director is a key member of the leadership team and plays a vital role in shaping the agency’s market presence, carrier relationships, and client experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Growth:
· Develop and execute the commercial lines strategic plan in alignment with agency goals.
· Lead initiatives to drive new business growth, client retention, and cross-selling opportunities.
· Identify market trends and shifts to ensure the agency remains competitive and innovative.
Operational Oversight:
· Oversee all commercial lines operations including underwriting, marketing, servicing, renewals, and compliance.
· Streamline processes, implement technology solutions, and ensure operational excellence.
· Collaborate with the VP of Personal Lines, IT, and Finance to ensure cohesive agency performance.
Team Management:
· Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of producers, account executives, and account managers.
· Set performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations.
· Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Client & Carrier Relations:
· Serve as the executive sponsor for key commercial clients.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and underwriting partners.
· Negotiate carrier appointments, commissions, and program agreements.
Financial Management:
· Manage the division’s P&L, monitor performance metrics, and ensure budgetary goals are met.
· Analyze book of business performance and implement strategies for profitability and retention.
Qualifications:
· 10+ years of commercial lines experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
· Proven track record in growing a commercial book of business and leading high-performing teams.
· Active Property & Casualty Insurance License (required).
· Strong knowledge of all major commercial insurance lines and risk management practices.
· Experience with agency management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, AMS360) and CRM tools.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
· Industry designations such as CPCU, CIC, or ARM preferred.
