STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Who Staffing is looking for a Staff Accountant for a fulltime, direct hire opportunity with our client in Frederick, MD. This is a hybrid role, 2x week in office 3x remote. 

Job Summary:

Our client, a long-established leader in the transportation industry, is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant for a long-term position. This role owns core accounting functions such as reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting, and will work closely with the Corporate Controller. 

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Close

·       Own the monthly and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations

·       Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance analysis, and supporting schedules for management review

·       Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring transactions are properly classified and supported

·       Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner 

Operational & Industry-Specific Accounting

·       Reconcile affiliate/partner settlements, including trip-level billing, commissions, and payout accuracy

·       Track and account for fleet-related costs — vehicle depreciation, maintenance, fuel, insurance, and leasing

·       Support revenue accounting across direct corporate accounts, travel management companies (TMCs), and the affiliate network

·       Assist with multi-location or multi-entity reconciliations as needed across clients’ markets 

AP, AR & Cash Management

·       Oversee accounts payable, including vendor invoice processing, coding, and payment runs

·       Manage accounts receivable, billing, and collections, partnering with sales/account teams on aging accounts

·       Reconcile bank, merchant processor, and credit card accounts daily/weekly as required

·       Monitor cash position and support weekly cash flow reporting 

Compliance, Tax & Controls

·       Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance, including sales/use tax across multiple jurisdictions

·       Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting

·       Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis for the Corporate Controller and finance leadership

·       Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations 

Requirements

·       Minimum years of professional accounting experience

·       Based in or able to reliably commute to the Frederick, MD area

·       Strong working knowledge of GAAP, reconciliations, and month-end close processes

·       Proficiency with accounting software and Excel

·       High attention to detail and ability to work independently 

Preferred Qualifications

·       CPA license (preferred, not required)

·       Prior experience in the transportation, chauffeured services, or ground transportation industry
