Who Staffing is looking for a General Manager for a fulltime, direct hire opportunity with our client in Gaithersburg, MD. 

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a general manager with experience in residential home services to join their growing company in Gaithersburg, MD.  Reporting directly to the owners, this person will oversee the entire operation to include renovation, retail and service, and will help implement processes and procedures to help take the company to the next level. 

Job Responsibilities:

Assume a role of leadership and ultimate accountability for all aspects of day-to-day operations as well as long-term strategic plans. 

·       HR Functions

o   Recruitment

§  Identifying sources for new employees

§  Developing and placing advertisements

§  Establishing relationships with new employee sources (such as schools, networking, job placement organizations)

§  Developing & implementing new employee referral programs

o   Training coordination

§  Orientation of new hires to work independently and within company structure

§  Work with department managers on creating and implementing new hire training program.

§  Work with department managers to set up and execute on in-season and off-season staff training

§  Training programs should be revisited yearly and adjusted as needed.

§  Work with department managers to schedule new hire training dates

§  Coordinate resources needed for successful execution of all training programs

§  Identify training which can improve employee performance and productivity

o   Hiring/Firing

§  Assist with identifying and hiring the appropriate person to fill a job vacancy

·       Conduct initial phone interview

·       Conduct 1st face to face interview with appropriate manager

§  Work with manager to identify job performance issues

·       Have meeting with employee and manager to discuss issues and room for improvement (as appropriate)

·       Document employee job performance issues with department manager

§  Identifying personnel that are not meeting job performance expectations and terminating their positions

§  Work with department managers on employee reviews

o   Employee Relations

§  Coordinate employee events

·       Customer Service Management

o   Quality assurance

§  Supervise department personnel to ensure that customer and company expectations are being met

o   Create a process for tracking customer service issues through resolution

§  Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a timely and responsive manner

§  Assuring the appropriate management team is managing customers’ concerns in a timely manner.

§  Act as a resource to consumers for technical information

o   Create a system that allows for transparency of projects between departments as it pertains to customers (service, reno, pc+, retail)

·       Internal Infrastructure Management

o   Develop and implement processes that are necessary as the organization evolves or situations arise

o   Maintain communication within and between department(s)

§  Assist in building structure and relations between departments to achieve cohesiveness.

§  Keep department personnel up to date on company-wide and department-wide expectations, promotions, policy changes, procedures, staffing news and other relevant information

§  Gather information from other departments to facilitate achievement of company-wide and department-wide goals

o   Provide assistance to other departments

§  Identify tasks that can be performed to assist department teams

§  Drive business to all departments

o   Monitoring/improving productivity

§  Create a process for lead and proposal tracking

§  Implement systems to improve or maintain productivity goals

o   Act as a resource to department and company personnel regarding departmental questions 

·       Information Technology

o   Be the technical resource for all staff.  Provide Tier 1 Support

o   Research technology resources that benefit the company

o   Provide software/hardware/network training as needed

o   Be the liaison between IT Professional and our client

·       Analytics

o   Develop departmental benchmarks

o   Weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly

o   Sales (categories, items, turnover rates)

o   Gross Profit

o   Gross Margin

o   Other metrics as determined

o   Customers

o   Lost customer %

o   Attrition

o   Market trends

·       Strategic Duties

o   Vision/Mission development

§  Implement programs and procedures that will facilitate the achievement of the company-wide Vision and Mission.

§  Contributing to the development and implementation of company-wide vision

§  Growth and operations planning

·       Identifying future growth opportunities

·       Developing and implementing plans to take advantage of opportunities

o   Marketing plan development

§  Developing messages and promotions to drive sales within the departments

o   Resource identification/development/procurement

§  Budgeting- Establishing budgets and other financial requirements and goals for the departments

§  Identifying human, physical and financial resources necessary to meet company-wide goals

o   Defining productivity and procedures

§  Establishing the parameters to indicate positive and negative productivity

§  Developing and implementing procedures to accurately assess productivity and profitability

§  Developing and implementing procedures to facilitate day-to-day operations

o   Administrative

§  Email daily summary to senior management when out of the office

§  Business transaction receipts need to be turned into the accounting office within 3 days of transaction.
